How to Become a Gera Verified Provider

A Gera Services Passport makes your bookings warranty-eligible, gives customers a verified trust signal, and improves your search placement on GeraHome and other Gera platforms. Here is how to apply.

Choose your badge tier

Start with Gera Verified (£9.99/month) if you want the fastest path to warranty-eligible status. Higher tiers (Trusted, Expert, Elite) require more documentation but unlock higher claim caps and better search placement. You can always upgrade later.

Create or log in to your Gera provider account

Go to passport.gera.services and sign up as a provider. If you already have a Gera account (for GeraHome, GeraClinic, or another Gera platform), use the same login — your Passport is linked to your single Gera identity.

Tip: Use your business email address if you operate as a sole trader or company. It will appear on your verified profile.

Submit your verification documents

Upload a clear photo of your government-issued ID (passport or national ID card). For address confirmation, submit a utility bill or bank statement dated within 90 days. For higher badge tiers, also upload your qualifications, certificates, or professional body membership documents.

Tip: Ensure documents are clear and unobscured. Blurry photos are the most common cause of verification delays.

Consent to background check (Trusted tier and above)

For Gera Trusted and higher, you consent to a standard background check (DBS Basic in the UK, equivalent elsewhere). Gera initiates the check — you do not need to organise it separately. Results typically arrive within 5–10 business days.

Tip: The background check is a standard DBS Basic (not Enhanced). It checks for unspent convictions only. A caution or spent conviction does not automatically disqualify you.

Pay your monthly Passport subscription

Activate your Passport with the monthly subscription for your chosen tier. Payment is by card via Stripe. There is no annual contract — you can cancel at any time, though your Passport status lapses 30 days after cancellation.

Tip: New bookings made after your Passport lapses will not be warranty-eligible. Bookings made while your Passport was active remain covered for their 48-hour claim window.

Wait for verification (2–15 business days)

Gera verifies your ID, address, and documents. For Expert and Elite tiers, qualification verification may take up to 15 business days where direct confirmation with the issuing body is needed. You will receive email updates at each stage.

Tip: You can start accepting bookings on GeraHome immediately — your profile will show "Verification in progress" until your badge is activated.

Your badge goes live

Once verified, your Passport badge appears on your provider profile across all Gera platforms you use — GeraHome, GeraClinic, and others. Your bookings are now warranty-eligible. You receive a machine-readable badge you can also use in your own marketing.

Tip: Your badge includes a verification URL that customers and AI agents can check to confirm your Passport status in real time.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does verification take?

Gera Verified: 2–3 business days. Gera Trusted: 5–10 business days (includes background check). Gera Expert: 5–15 business days (includes qualification verification with the issuing body). Gera Elite: by invitation only — assessed quarterly.

Can I apply for multiple categories?

Yes. Your Gera Passport covers all the service categories you are verified for. If you are both a plumber and a gas engineer, you can verify both qualifications under a single Passport subscription.

What happens if I fail verification?

If Gera cannot verify your documents, you receive a notification explaining what is missing or unclear. You can resubmit within 30 days at no extra cost. If verification is not completed within 30 days, your subscription is refunded.

Is there a refund if I cancel?

Subscriptions are month-to-month. If you cancel mid-month, your badge remains active until the end of the paid period. Prorated refunds are not offered, but you will not be charged further.

Do I need a Gera Passport to list on GeraHome?

No. Any provider can list on GeraHome. However, only providers with an active Gera Passport have their bookings warranty-eligible and receive the verified badge on their profile. Passport providers rank higher in search results.
